American Football in Australia is changing rapidly and our alliances with the below affiliated Clubs provides a framework for the development and sharing our resources to enhance the quality of the Player, Club and Sport development process. Critically, each alliance/affiliate member Club below shares the same vision, philosophy, and commitment to improving the Sport.

We recognise and appreciate the outstanding local landscape and reputations of the quality club programs involved and are committed to seeing our game flourish at all levels and to sharing our resources. Our Alliance helps connect our Football community. The core objectives of the American Football Club Alliance relationship includes the following:

– To develop friendship, mutual understanding and cultural appreciation between the two clubs
– To encourage the exchange of visits either on a group or individual basis between each other
– To exchange programs, publications, newsletters, video, and items of interest between the clubs
– To foster contacts, meetings and other friendly gatherings
– To undertake joint projects for the benefit of the football community in which each club is located
– To participate in and undertake programs or activities for the promotion American Football
– To build on and promote strategic partnerships between the Clubs and suppliers or sponsors

This is a great step forward and all our members will benefit from the great resources, knowledge and opportunities afforded by each contributing Club. Our partners for each State are:


ACT – University of Canberra FirebirdsFirebirds

The University of Canberra Firebirds are an American Football club established in 1993 to compete in the ACT Gridiron league. Based in the Belconnen area in the northern part of Canberra, the Firebirds were one of five clubs originally formed for the seniors competition

The Firebirds have won the most Championships in ACT Gridiron history with 7 Capital Bowl victories from 11 appearances. The club has also won eight minor premierships having the best regular season win-loss record (1994, 1997, 2000, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2010, 2011). Continuing on their dominance the Firebirds under 18s team has also won ACT championships in 1996, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2004, 2005 and 2006.

A Club with a proud history, current success and a bright future driven by an active and committed Board we are delighted to count them as members of the Club Alliance

Victoria – Monash University Warriorswarriors2

The Monash University Warriors (Formerly Nunawading Warriors) was founded in 1987 and are one of the oldest Clubs remaining in Victoria. The Warriors have been the pre-eminent team in Gridiron Victoria since the turn of the century playing finals football every year except 2003 winning 7 of the 10 Vic Bowls they have contested since 2000. The Warriors performed a 3-peat of State Championships (‘08,’09,’10) and again in 2012,13 & 14,. On the latter occasion with former Saint Keven Reed Jr & future Saint Owen Hayden in their ranks.

The Warriors are also arguably the largest Club in Australia boasting a division side known as the “Barbarians” who first entered the competition as an Exhibition team in 2008 however with the growth of the League in Victoria are now a strong second division contender making their first finals appearance in 2012.

Likewise the Warriors Junior program has also had great success in winning in 2003 and most recently in 2009 Junior Championship.

As a powerhouse Club within Victoria it has produced a multitude of State and National Representative Coaches and players as well as several that have gone on to play and succeed at even higher levels such as Arena Football in the US and Players who have signed with Division I and II NCAA Football Teams including Georgia Tech demonstrating a quality program producing quality home grown football players. The Warriors are a fabulous addition to the Club Alliance.

New South Wales – Bondi RaidersQLDRaiders

The Raiders were one of the founding teams established in Australia and the club’s origins date back to 1983. Since those early years, the Raiders have won 10 State Championship titles including a record 5 straight Championships. The Raiders are an active an innovative team producing several National Team Coaches and players for Australia notably Coach Paul Manera and Coach Peter Tos Snr amongst them who are both extremely well respected members of the Australian and International Gridiron scene.

The Raiders field teams in Division 1 (18+), Colts (14-18) and Youth (12-14) of the New South Wales Gridiron Football League competitions. The Raiders are the oldest Club participating in the Alliance and add enormous value to our endeavours to produce the best football from the best football programs in Australia.
